Each one of our team members play an important role in keeping the agency a well-oiled machine. In our ‘meet the team’ series, we share insights into the lives of the talented individuals that make up our Yoghurt Digital family.
1. What Do You Do At Yoghurt Digital?
I head up the Biddable team at Yoghurt so I’m responsible for overseeing the team’s strategy and execution across all paid channels to drive client goals and innovating our product offering.
2. If You Weren’t Doing That, What Would You Be Doing?
People always ask this question in the hope that I have a hidden talent or strange passion but in truth, my core knowledge base is just Disney and digital. So, until Disney trivia becomes a legitimate career path, I really can’t see myself doing anything else.
3. What Does A Typical Day Look Like For You?
I’m not sure ‘typical’ really exists in Agency Land…I can almost guarantee that I will open a pivot table at some point and end my day at a pub, but what happens in between is anyone’s guess.
4. What Is Your Favourite Thing About Working At Yoghurt Digital?
I like knowing that all our strategies and insights are backed by data and driven by the smart people that work here.
5. What Are The Values That Drive You In Work And Life?
I’m not sure if this is considered a value but I’m driven by wanting to understand why things happen in the way they do. I initially got into PPC having been sold in on the idea that from looking at keyword data you could identify trends and patterns that would help explain why people shop/buy/act the way they do. Over the years that expanded into, why we should use one tech over another or why one channel works better than another.
I have the exact same approach in life which explains why I know an unnecessary amount of information about dimples on golf balls (there is a lot more science behind this than you would expect).
6. What Do You Enjoy Doing Outside Of Work?
I like to claim it’s justified based purely on my ‘English heritage’ but I do thoroughly enjoy going to the pub with friends. I like live music (the kind with words), travelling (but not the flying part) and cooking (when someone else does it and it’s sandwiches).
Is it me or is this starting to sound like a Tinder profile?
7. What Are Your Top 3 Favourite Books Or Podcasts?
Sophisticated – maybe an eharmony profile?
At the risk of sounding like a complete philistine, I actually barely read books and never got into the podcast thing. The last book I read was obliquity which I primarily committed to because I had a lot of long-haul flights to catch.
8. What’s The Best Advice You Have Ever Received?
Always say ‘Thank You’ to the bus driver.
9. What’s Your Favourite Spot In Sydney?
The Exi (a.k.a The Royal Exhibition Hotel) opposite Central in Surry Hills. It’s one of the few spots in Sydney that I have found to have a homey pub vibe. The staff are fantastic and you never have to wait long to be served. I would recommend steering clear of the food though.
10. You’re On A Deserted Island And Can Only Listen To One Album For The Rest Of Your Days. Which One Would You Pick?
Given I have 0 survival skills, ‘the rest of my days’ in this context would be about 2 days. Maybe a Christmas compilation album that would keep my spirits up in what is actually a remarkably depressing situation.
11. Which Individual, Living Or Dead, Would You Like To Eat Dinner With The Most? Why?
Ian Hislop. ‘Have I got news for you’ and ‘Private Eye’ were my introduction to satire from a young age and ever since then, I genuinely think Ian is the funniest human. Plus, HIGNFY is heading into their 56th season after 28 years – so, if that doesn’t provide enough conversation starters for one dinner I don’t know what would.
12. What Is The First Thing You Would Buy If You Won The Lottery?
A cruise ship. One with the wave machines, ice rinks and things. Then a dock to leave it in as I’m not super keen on going out to sea, but like the idea of having so many activities available in one place.
